BERSERK -

Okay. I'm starting here because I feel like it. I haven't determined if these little side sections of the site are going to be reviews, links, pictures, or some odd hybrid, but I have to start doing something or I'll never get anything accomplished.

Berserk is an anime series, 25 episodes. It is also a manga, approximately 22 books. I am currently plodding through the manga since it's in Japanese and it may be awhile before I get a review/scans up here for it. The series however I have seen many times and love dearly.
I could make some review-like comments ... It's fantasy-esque. It's dark. It's amazingly violent. It's got a wonderful story that is anything but your typical bubbly Tenchi fluff ... but they just don't seem to do it justice.
There are a few problems with the anime. The animation quality is not stunning, but it's okay. They use the technique of panning across a still shot or zooming in/out on portions of a still shot. This has been know to annoy some people. I'm apparently not one of them. Basically, this wasn't a super high-budget anime. In my ever so humble opinion though, it makes up for it's little technical issues quite well.

As far as pictures go I think I'll put up a few of the really good ones that I've come across. The rest are pretty easy to find through Google. Here goes:
  Good B&W sketch of Griffith
Too funny to not put up. Gatts Has a Posse
Of course Peter Pan ... I mean Judeau
Griffith's & Gatts' Helmets with Gatts' Sword
And finally, the best picture of Griffith ever

Black Sun Over Midland - This is a fairly comprehensive site. It's got the best collection of screen shots from the anime and most importantly ... it's still up and running. (most of the other Berserk sites I've found no longer exist)

Arctic Nightfall's Berserk Site - A very well done site that just recently went up. The message boards are also informative and generally pretty funny.

Skull Knight - Another new one (it's not a new site, it just took me an inordinately long time to discover it). Good translations, very international-flavored message boards, and the author seems to have something of a Griffith-bias (not that that's a fault of any kind).

A bit from the Ask John Archives on Anime Nation's site. An especially well written response to the question: Why is Berserk so good?

A Winamp skin I made of Griffith. It's Black&White and pretty minimalistic but everything's skinned and it all works properly.

Okay ... so maybe it took longer than a week, but the skin of Judeau is now finished. It's my second attempt at this whole skinning thing and I think it came out much better than the Griffith one.

Manga Translations

Ah, silly me. Linking to translations when someone else is already doing it infinitely better than me.

There is a wonderful Berserk Translation Database put up by ranemaka13 that has very accurate translations, and seems to be progressing nicely. The only thing I can add is a weird copy of Volume 6. It's pretty piss-poor English and skips a lot of dialogue, but it's better than nothing ;)

There is also this page on the Skullknight site. Different organization and it's more frequently updated.
